The owner of this beautiful home was heavily involved in the building site location, concept, selection of her design team, architectural design, materials selection, landscaping, furniture selection, and art. Basically, it was her baby. She had a great eye for all parts of this project. At the almost completion of the project, she decided she needed help in some of the final touches, such as rugs and occasional tables.

The foyer shows some of her fabulous art collection. I added the benches, shown in the rear of the room. The stunning bronze sculpture was very strong and curvilinear. The benches have the same strong curvilinear design. The thickness of the upholstery was the same as the thickness of the stone slabs of the wall. It was important to her to keep to the scale of the architecture.

I brought a rug designer, one of my artistic sources, into the project. She worked with us to create custom designed wool and silk rugs for her living room and TV room. The site is heavily treed. For the living room, the concept was to have this rug mimic age rings of trees. The concentric and irregular rings were in a close color range to keep the rug from overpowering the quietness of the space. I also found some small stainless steel occasional tables which have the same circular pattern.

Outside of the TV room is a creek laden with fallen stones. For the rug in this room, the stone shapes are repeated, at a higher level than the field, to create a 3 dimensional rug. The designer hand chiseled the final shapes on site.

In this room, I added a sculptural occasional table, upholstered in red leather to match the red in the beautiful art glass plates on the wall. The ball feet are stainless steel, which coordinate with the stainless steel appliances in the adjoining kitchen, open to this room.
