Custom Cabinet
My client has a Santa Fe/hacienda style home. We had stayed true to that style for his furnishings. However, he recently had purchased Stickley furniture for his guest bedroom. He needed to add a TV cabinet that would also provide storage for guest’s clothes. I designed this cabinet with iron grill doors and hardware. The metal work was typical of window grills in Santa Fe, Italy, or Mexico. The basic cabinet design is influenced by the Stickley style. The grill and the handles were hand forged by a craftsman in Santa Fe.

Console table
I suggested adding a console table to my clients dining room for serving dishes, etc. One of my custom manufacturers had a stunning, 3 inch thick slab of walnut. It became the top for my client’s table. The wooden legs were chiseled to look like pitted iron, then gilded. The top is concave, repeating the shape of the nearby round dining table.

The leg detail shows the texture of the legs.

My client asked for a make-up table with storage. The only place in the room to put this was in front of window wall. The view out the window was spectacular and could be seen from anywhere in the room. I didn’t want to block the view, so I had a custom table made of glass and purchased a transparent chair. The storage cabinet is mirrored so it reflects its surroundings and basically disappears.

This carved and gilded table base did not come with a top. I had a wood top made for it in a radius design. The design is simple so as to not compete with the intricate base but more interesting than a plain wood top would be.
